At Golden Heart Advocacy, we believe support should open doors. Our role is to help you access opportunities, navigate available resources, and build a life that feels meaningful, connected, and true to who you are. We’re here to encourage your choices, celebrate your progress, and stand beside you every step of the way.
Golden Heart Advocacy is developing a new approach to Community Inclusion centered around meaningful, age-appropriate experiences for adults. Our upcoming Community Inclusion events will take place during evenings and weekends, creating more opportunities for individuals to enjoy the community outside of traditional daytime programming. Planned experiences will focus on activities adults genuinely want to participate in, such as art museums, comedy shows, live performances, sporting events, restaurants, seasonal events, cultural experiences, and other community outings. The goal is to create opportunities for connection, choice, new experiences, and genuine participation in community life—not simply to attend an activity, but to feel part of it. We look forward to launching our Community Inclusion program in the near future and introducing a growing calendar of experiences designed around the interests of the adults we serve.
At Golden Heart Advocacy, we believe support should be built around the person—not around a one-size-fits-all program. We work alongside individuals and families to create flexible, meaningful supports that reflect each person’s goals, preferences, interests, routines, and vision for their life.
We are committed to:
Putting the individual at the center. We create person-centered supports that promote choice, independence, dignity, and meaningful participation in everyday life.
Helping families navigate available resources. We work with individuals and families to better understand services, funding, and available supports so they can make informed decisions.
Creating individualized schedules. Rather than expecting everyone to fit into a traditional program model, we help develop schedules that reflect the individual’s needs, interests, routines, and preferred activities.
Supporting self-direction and independence. Our goal is to help individuals build confidence, make supported decisions, develop skills, and have greater control over how they spend their time.
Finding the right staff fit. We use interest and preference information from both the individuals we serve and our DSPs to help create stronger, more compatible support relationships.
Providing thoughtful, comprehensive intake planning. Our intake process looks beyond a single service or time block to better understand the individual’s overall needs and identify opportunities for meaningful home- and community-based support.
Creating opportunities for connection. Individuals may have opportunities to participate in community outings, activities, and events alongside others receiving Golden Heart services while still maintaining individualized support.
Partnering with families. Families choosing Golden Heart have access to guidance and support as they explore services and determine what options may work best for their loved one.
Traditional 9-to-3 programs and one-size-fits-all service models are not the right fit for everyone—and they do not have to be. Golden Heart is committed to helping individuals and families build a more flexible, self-directed approach to support that reflects the life the individual wants to live.
Finding the right supports can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate the process alone. Our team is here to answer your questions, learn more about what you or your loved one needs, and help identify services and supports that may be the right fit.
